We have waited 13 months for it, and it’s finally here. New Lucky Star fix.

It’s always a bit difficult to find something to say about manga as famous as Lucky Star, because you guys already know what you will find in it. Slice-of-life, random situations, light humor, otaku talk… Everything you have known before is still here. But with uber awesome art.

Now, about what this book brings new in the RakiSutaverse (more details in the random scans’ comments as usual) :

– Konata and her crew are now college students (they have graduated at the end of volume 6). But actually, we don’t really get to see their campus life.

– Yutaka, Minami and Hiyori are now second-year. Sakuraba-sensei was the teacher in charge of their class during first-year, but for their second-year it’s Kuroi-sensei. So rejoice, Nanako fans, she’ll still be around.

– 2 new characters get introduced : Izumi Watase, and Patrica Martin (!?)

Yoshimizu-sensei’s art is really at its best, making LS even more enjoyable to read. Just like volume 6, volume 7 contained a nice bunch of delicious sketches. The author has been doing lot of effort on the characters’ clothes, they all look very cool. OH MAN I MISSED YOU LUCKY STAR

As I said, we don’t really get to see Kona-chan & co as college students. We just get some hints, such as the fact that everybody got separated, except Konata and Misao who ended up in the same university.

Randomness~
First comic, first panel : I so looove Minami’s funny faces. The author is definitely the only one who can make Minami looks this funny and cute. People calling Minami a Nagato-character : you’re all so fucking wrong.
Last comic : Misao and Ayano call Kagamin ‘Hiiragi(-chan)’, but they respectively call Tsukasa ‘Tsukasa’ and ‘Hi-chan’. Kagami : “(Wait… isn’t there something wrong here ?)” XD
On a side note, there’re some unexpected developmenta between some characters. Like, Tsukasa and Ayano actually became great friends. There’s even a comic about them sending mails to each others a whole night, or going out just the two of them.

So, here’s the whole deal about Patty in this book :
As a reminder, Patty is a character who’s been created for the drama cd. Tho KyoAni gave her decent time of appearance in the anime, the author just never knew how to use her in the actual manga. So, she appeared only a few times until now.
But seems like the author finally thought of a way of using her in the story : Patty is an exchange student who comes to live at Konata’s place. But doing so, the author has actually RESETED ALL THE CHARS’ MEMORIES OF PATTY O_o
She got introduced just as if she had never appeared before, and nobody knows her. She directly joins Yutaka’s class as a second year student, making all the time they spent as first-years as if it never happened.
Really weird… but heh, now Patty gets a reason to appear more often, so I guess it’s ok… ?

Izumi Watase KITA
Izumi is an iinchou (most likely the one of Yutaka’s class, Hiyori calls her iinchou in the last comic) but she doesn’t want anyone to know that she’s an otaku… failed at it XD

Tsukasa is asked by Kona-chan to get a sign from Akira-sama, but ends up giving her own name. XD

I’ve already arged many times and on many place about how I wanted to see LS characters in short stories instead of 4koma, even if it’s just once in a while. Looks like the author heard me, since he delivered a very vey VERY cute SHORT STORY, full of YutaMina goodness and awesome art.
The school is organizing some marathon event, and Yutaka and Minami get a light argument cause Yutaka doesn’t want Minami to give up on the race for looking after her. This thing was so damn cute… Hope to see more of these things in the future. GJ, Yoshimizu-sensei !

And I’m done already. I know, that was only a few scans, but since LS is all about randomness it’s hard to find comics which stand out and on which I have something to comment about.

I guess it’s about time for KyoAni to make another season, don’t you think ? The graduation event from volume 6 would come in handy for an ending to it~

Well, until then… I guess I will really have to get a PSP this chrismas for getting my next LS fix…
