Hitohira volume 4 & 5
Hitohira was one of the good surprises from 2007. It wasn’t an anime I was especially looking forward to, but after watching the first episode I found it really nice and kept watching the show. And it’s actually a very pleasant show, I really enjoyed it very much. For people who doesn’t know, it’s about a very shy girl named Mugi Asai, who goes totally silent when embarassed and is forcibly enroled in a “Drama Research Club”, the actual drama club’s rival club.
Personally it’s one of my favorite ‘slice-of-life’ anime. Nice story, the perfect amount of drama, great characters (especially Mugi and Nono-sempai) and some delicious yuri-vibes.
So when I found the manga in the second-hand books at the library I was quite happy, since the manga is still on-going in japan, and the anime goes until the middle of the volume 4 only. I’ve read the 5 released books a couple of months ago, so since I’m here for killing time I thought I might as well post some stuffs about it.
Mugi is love. I fell in love at once with her seiyuu Orie Kimoto,
a rookie seiyuu. Nono-sempai luvs Mugi too~
Surprisingly enough, Mugi possesses an amazing comical side.
She’s quite a delinquent too XD
Nono-sempai is so awesome <3 <3 <3
Best character of the show. Cute, cool, hilarious…
Moar Mugi x Nono moments, from the club’s trip episode.
Episode 7. Nono and Mirei, her ex-best friend and actual president
of the Drama Club, locked in the school’s stocktroom.
Truly one of the best moments in anime history, IMO.
Mirei is also very awesome for worrying so much about Nono, and
because she’s the one crying when Nono loses her voice.
So deliciously yuri.
Mugi x Kayo-chan, this so has to be real.
The anime ends with Nono-sempai’s graduation and the dissolution of the Drama Research Club, but as I said the manga continues past it, with Mugi-choco entering her second year. That’s not so much of a big surprise, but Mugi decides to continue acting and join the Drama Club. I must say that I miss Nono, Mirei and Kayo-chan a lot, and the manga lost mostly all of its yuri-vibe after that, but this is still pretty funny. Mugi is still the cuteness, and the girls from Mirei’s club are all as much lovely as they’re crazy. And it’s nice to see Mugi acting again.
Tama-chan, the new club president after Mirei’s graduation,
is my favorite character in the Drama Club.
“CHANCE GA KITA ZE !! Go prepare me some nice clothes !”
Best Cinderella evar XD
“Eroero Essaim !”, and Mugi appears as a totally HAWT
bunny-eared witch godmother <3 <3 <3
Tama-chan is most of the time a nice and scatterbrained girl,
but occasionally turns into Mirei-san. XD
Kodomo no Hitohira.
Mugi-chan dunno how to make new friends,
but finally manages to get their attention XD
A : “Hey, Nono-chan ! Did you watch yesterday’s MagiMugi episode ?”
B : “It was funny~”
Nono : “… yeah, it was really fun…”
A : “… you don’t have to lie, you know…”
Nono : “(I wasn’t lying though…)”
*Sad grade-schooler days*
awww feel like hugging that poor Nono-chan right now
I have one major complain about this manga though : the fact that the author only releases one volume a year :/
The fifth volume having been released on April 2008, next volume won’t be released before long… Neither ja.wiki.org or amazon.co.jp announces a releases date. Honestly that sucks badly, cause I really enjoy this manga very much.
